Germán Blanco is a young winemaker who is championing a fresher style of Tinto del Pais - the local name for Tempranillo in Ribera del Duero - and works with very old vineyards, many of which are planted at over 900 metres above sea level.

This is his 'roble', or barrel aged cuvée, a vivid, fruit-forward wine made using foot-treading, wild yeast fermentation and minimal intervention, and imbued with ripe cherry and plum fruit, black pepper and spicy wood notes.
