Julien Mareschal of Domaine de la Borde makes some of the most enchanting Jura wines we have come across, though sadly the quantities available are miniscule. Julien has 5 hectares of vines on the slopes of the most prestigious Jura appellation of Pupillin and his are some of the highest at up to 550m above sea level. Winemaking is biodynamic with hand-harvesting, native yeasts and minimal sulphur.

A mineral and precise example of Jura Chardonnay made biodynamically by Domaine de la Borde from 50 year old vines grown in clay and limestone at around 450m altitude. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing on the lees in large oak foudre for 10 months. Fresh green pear and zingy citrus at first with a pastry-like softness coming through on the palate which builds throughout the long, intense finish.
