The Rietsch family has been making wine in Mittelbergheim, Alsace, since the 17th century. Now run by husband and wife Jean-Pierre and Sophie Rietsch, the approach is natural, with an intense focus on healthy soil, vines and grapes enabling them to produce wines without pesticides, herbicides or sulphur. Over the last 10 years the domaine has become particularly renowned for long maceration orange wines made from traditional Alsace varieties though the direct press whites and Pinot are also exceptional.

Demoiselle is Gewürztraminer grown on clay limestone in Mittelbergheim. Two-thirds of the grapes are macerated in whole bunches for 11 days before blending with the rest of the direct pressed juice, spontaneously fermented and aged for 8 months in oak foudre. An explosively aromatic orange wine with ripe passionfruit, lychee, rosewater and pink grapefruit notes.
