Vignes du Maynes Cuvée Léandre
Vignes du Maynes is run my the inimitable Julien Guillot, who converted the family farm to Biodynamics when he took over in 1998. The most natural methods possible are used to vinify the wines. Semi-carbonic maceration is used for the reds and long fermentations are favoured.
Cuvée Léandre is a groundbreaking, spectacular and incredibly fine white Burgundy, knocking the socks off many a top-tier 1er cru in the Côte de Beaune from. There is just one barrel of this wine made each vintage, with 43 months ageing. Bright, vivid with great verve and energy, the palate is rich and salty with a firm backbone and insane length and intensity. You just want to keep drinking it in order to get to grips with all the nuance and infinite layers of complexity.
