Tillingham Qvevri White

Tillingham is the brainchild of winemaker Ben Walgate who crafts natural wines from his 70 acre farm near Rye in East Sussex.
This year's Qvevri White is a roughly even blend of Bacchus and Pinot Blanc fermented separately for 6 months in 200 and 400 litre clay qvevri. After blending the wine was aged for a further couple of months in oak foudre before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. An enticing, lightly smokey nose with chalky melon and peach. There's more stone fruit on the palate with an earthy, mineral finish softened by the porous clay.
