Christian Binner Si Rose
Country: France
Region: Alsace
Grapes: Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer
Vintage: 2018 / 2019
The Binner estate was established in 1770 and the family has holdings in two of the most valuable growing sites in Alsace; around the Kaefferkopf Grand Cru and plots in Ammerschwihr. The Binner family owns nine hectares and only six of those hectares are under vine, all worked biodynamically. Little or no sulphur is used in the winery.
Technically an orange wine, but looks like a rosé due to the varieties rosy tints! A blend of Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris from south facing limestone vineyards that reliably produce ripe, flavourful grapes. The maceration, fermentation and the ageing took place in the estate’s one-hundred-year-old oak barrels. Notes of roses, peaches (blossom and fruit), pink grapefruit, crushed black pepper, dried spice, herbs. Beautifully mineral too.
