Cascina Borgatta is the Piemonte estate of 80+ year old husband and wife vignerons Emilio and Maria Luisa Oliveri who have and continue to work their 2 hectares alone, even harvesting without seasonal help. In contrast to the usual focus on Barbera in these parts, Emilio and Maria have focused their life time of effort to Dolcetto, making structured, long-lived expressions that are aged for a minimum of 4 years before release. Winemaking is old-school and unchanged since the 1960s with long, slow indigenous ferments and no additions save for a touch of sulphur at fermentation and none at bottling.

Lamilla is from two parcels of grapes, one planted in the 1950s and the other in the 1960s. Spicy, concentrated and headily perfumed with blueberries, violets, bitter cherries on the nose and superb power and intensity on the long, full-bodied palate.
