Clos Lapeyre Jurancon Sec Vitatge Vielh (Magnum)
Country: France
Region: Jurancon
Grapes: Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Courbu
Vintage: 2013
Clos Lapeyre is an historic Jurancon estate making both the traditional sweet and dry wines from 18 hectares of vines at around 300-400m above sea level. The domaine has been cerified organic since 2005 and biodynamic since 2013.
This is a magnum of the dry (sec) Vitatge Vielh from a one-off parcel, and a rare opportunity to try an older (2013) vintage of the famously long-lived wines of Jurancon. Made from 3 parcels of old vines 60-100 year of age, the tremendous acid backbone has allowed this to develop beautifully, with dried fruit (pineapple, apricot) aromas that have taken on hints of caramel and nougat in a way that is textured and long.
