Colle Formica is a tiny, three-hectare family project led by Sergio Bombetti and his son Paolo in Velletri, just south of Rome. The family has worked this land for over a century, but only recently started bottling their own wines. The grapes are grown organically in volcanic soils and the wines are spontaneously fermented and vinified naturally.

Arancia Atomica is their flagship skin-contact stunner. Made from old-vine Malvasia di Candia (80%) and Trebbiano (20%), the grapes undergo a four month maceration in open-top fibreglass tanks. Despite that long soak, the wine doesn't feel heavy or over-extracted; instead, it’s a high-definition explosion of dried orange peel, apricot, and wild Mediterranean herbs.
