We're thrilled to welcome Nicolas from Newcomer Wines to shine a light on organic and biodynamic wines from Austria.

Austria has been at the forefront of natural winemaking for almost a century. Building on a long history of environmental consciousness, biodynamic farming was developed by Austrian philosopher Dr. Rudolf Steiner in 1924 and one of the world’s first biodynamic wineries, Nikolaihof, began to implement some of these principles in 1971. Today the country is a biodynamic haven with outstanding natural wines being produced by dedicated and diverse producers.

Newcomer Wines was founded in 2014 with a focus on sourcing wines from Austrian producers who are rewriting traditions and producing terroir-driven wines from indigenous varieties. They now represent more than twenty-five Austrian producers and have ventured further afield to include producers from Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland. Nicolas will guide us through five exciting wines from these producers:

  • Kamptal Kollektiv (Alwin & Stefanie Jurtschitsch in Kamptal)
  • Werlitsch (Ewald & Brigitte Tscheppe in Styria)
  • Renner&Sistas (Georg & Stefanie Renner in Burgenland)
  • Claus Preisinger (Burgenland)
  • Christian Tschida (Burgenland)

Alongside the 5 wines, light snacks from Provisions will be provided. This will be a seated tasting so places are limited. We hope you can make it!

We'll be offering 10% off any Austrian bottles purchased on the night.
