The phrase 'natural wine legend' is sometimes overused, but the moniker certainly applies to Jean-Pierre Robinot. Having founded the famous Paris wine bar L’Ange Vinand France’s premier Natural Wine journal Le Rouge et le Blanc, he now makes incredible wine in the Loire across two appellations, Jasnières and the Coteaux-du-Loir. Farming is biodynamic, vinification is slow and patient but always worth the wait. 

Pineau d’Aunis is always a thrill when Jean-Pierre is involved and this is no different. It comes from a forty year old parcel and is fermented on skins in whole bunches for three weeks, before being pressed off to barrel to rest for fifteen months. Compact and elegant, with neat tannins framing layers of dark fruit, liquorice and spice. Savoury and intense.
