Jean-Pierre Robinot Nocturne
Country: France
Region: Loire
Grapes: Pineau d'Aunis
Vintage: 2021
The phrase 'natural wine legend' is sometimes overused, but the moniker certainly applies to Jean-Pierre Robinot. Having founded the famous Paris wine bar L’Ange Vin and France’s premier Natural Wine journal Le Rouge et le Blanc, he now makes incredible wine in the Loire across two appellations, Jasnières and the Coteaux-du-Loir. Farming is biodynamic, vinification is slow and patient but always worth the wait.
Pineau d’Aunis from vines between fifty and one hundred years of age. This was fermented on skins with whole bunches for three weeks and aged in old barrels for a year. As always it is the deepest and darkest of his reds with complex aromas of minerals and spice. Beautiful now, but it will age with aplomb.
