Lele Takamatua Pinot Gris / Pinot Noir
Country: New Zealand
Region: Canterbury
Grapes: Pinto Gris, Pinot Noir
Vintage: 2021
Lele is the project of Liam Kelleher, one of the original founders of pioneering London natural wine shops/bars Noble Fine Liquor, P. Franco and Bright, who returned to NZ in 2019 to start making wine near his hometown of Christchurch in the South Island. As you would expect from a natural wine pioneer, viticulture is organic and winemaking low intervention, with just a touch of sulphur at bottling.
A successful red/white field blend of 60% Pinot Gris and 40% Pinot Noir from a single plot in Banks peninsula. Juicy, mouth-watering aromas of guava, pomegranate and raspberries with a lick of chalky minerality and crunchy cranberry acidity.
