Tenuta Mattei is a bucolic organic estate set amongst the Esino hills of Marche, a short drive inland from Italy's Adriatic coast. Here in alluvial soils rich in marine soils they grow the 6 varieties key to Marche winemaking: Verdicchio, Passerina and Pecorino (for whites) and Lacrima, Montepulciano and Sangiovese (for reds). 

This is the Passerina, an ancient Marche variety prized for producing wines of intense minerality. This one also has a lovely floral bouquet of lilies and acacia as well as zesty grapefruit acidity.
