Gregory Guillaume Koforobe
Grapes: Merlot, Syrah
Gregory Guillaume has 3 hectares of vines around the villages of Villeneuve-de-Berg and Alba-la-Romaine in Ardeche. He farms organically and follows up in with a minimum of intervention in the cellar, adding nothing to the wines at any stage.
Koforobe is a blend of Merlot and Syrah from a parcel up to forty years old. The two varieties were co-fermented as whole bunches for about a month before being pressed off to barrels to rest through the winter. A beautiful shade of ruby in the glass, it is all black fruit, herbs and brine. Wonderfully savoury, with some neat little tannins to boot.
