Christian Tschida has 10 hectares of old vines on the banks of Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland that have been in his family for 4 generations. He grows mainly indigenous Austrian varieties that benefit from the cool lake air and the sandy gravel, schist and limestone soils the area is known for. Christian is renowned for very light extractions that capture the essence of the grapes, all done without sulphur or other additions.

The 2023 of Tschida's thrilling rosato / light red is 100% Blaufrankisch. Handpicked and destemmed, with a short maceration and it's then gently pressed before ageing in large, used Stockinger barrels on the lees for a year. Never racked, filtered, fined and no added SO2. A perfect balance between high acidity and fresh fruit flavour intensity. Bright, juicy red fruits, rose petal, pink peppercorn, rhubarb, lime zest and a chalky minerality all dance together on the palate.
