Arpepe Rosso di Valtellina
Country: Italy
Region: Lombardy
Grapes: Nebbiolo
Vintage: 2023
The Perego family of Arpepe have grown Nebbiolo - and only Nebbiolo - on the precipitous granite mountains of Valtellina in Lombardy since 1860. The vines cling to the granite up to 700m above sea level, clawing their way through cracks to access the minerals and water that sustain them.
Rosso di Valtellina is made from several parcels of handpicked 50 year old vines 350-400m above sea level. Macerated on skins long and slow before ageing traditionally in old chestnut barrels, this is intensely perfumed with tea leaf, blueberry, tar and sweet spice aromas.
