Bénédicte & Stéphane Tissot Arbois Chardonnay 'Graviers'
The domaine of Bénédicte & Stéphane Tissot is widely regarded as one of the very best in Jura, and the Tissot family more generally is widely known in the region for its long tradition of winemaking. Bénédicte & Stéphane converted the domaine to organics in 1999 and biodynamics shortly after, with the focus on pure expressions of terroir. The whites are characterised by a signature smoky reductive quality on the nose and immense power on the palate while the reds are fragrant and ethereal.
Graviers is Chardonnay from a blend of five parcels with an average age of 60 years. Enticing smoky mineral notes greet the nose with an intense core of saline, preserved lemon and caramelised apple in support. Immense and long on the palate which broadens out to reveal ripe stone fruit, pastry, hay and spice.
