Benoit Camus Vagabond
Country: France
Region: Beaujolais
Grapes: Gamay
Vintage: 2021
Benoit Camus lives in a caravan in the middle of 4 hectares of Gamay and Chardonnay vines in the south of Beaujolais. He has made wine here since 2006 but until recently it was all sold on to be bottled under the negotiant labels of friends. He now bottles his own wine, working the vines organically and bottling everything without any filtration or additions.
Vagabond is Gamay selected from Benoit's oldest plots, some up to 60 years old. This shows the deeper, more complex side of Beaujolais with intense minerality, vivid herb, plus fresh and dried fruit aromas but with a suppleness to the palate that is quintessentially Gamay.
