Black Mountain is the tiny organic wine project of Emma and Mark Smith whose winery is located in a small shed down a narrow country lane in site of the Brecon Beacons. In total they have three hectares of vines planted with a combination of Pinots Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Solaris and Cab Cortis on shallow clay soils over loamy red sandstone.

The Col Fondo White is 70% Pinot Meunier from 2018 aged for 3 years in tank and barrel, and 30% Solaris and Siegerrebe from 2021 with 3 weeks on skins, blended together in tank before refermenting in bottle with the addition of some Pinot Meunier juice. Elderflower, peach and apricot aromas abound and there's touches of toast and hazelnut. An action packed wine, all at only 11.5% ABV.
