Château de Villeneuve Saumur Blanc
Region: Loire Valley
Grapes: Chenin Blanc
Château de Villeneuve has been making wine since 1577 and is now run by Jean-Pierre Chevallier, a 4th generation winemaker who used to teach oenology at Bordeaux University before returning to his family’s property. Overall there is 25 hectares of vines growing in chalky soils overlooking the Loire, 80% of which are Cabernet Franc and 20% Chenin, all grown organically.
This is their fine and rich Saumur Blanc made from 30% barrel fermented grapes. Spicy green apple and grapefruit zest aromas with floral hints of jasmine and soft, broad palate from time in wood.
