Jean-Christophe Garnier La Roche Bezigon
Grapes: Chenin Blanc
Jean-Christophe was a sommelier before deciding to pack it in and actually make the stuff. He has some 60 year old and 40 year old Chenin vines and a bit of Cabernet Franc, Grolleau, Gamay and Pineau d’Aunis. The vines grow on schist, limestone and marl – the distinctive terroir of the Layon valley.
La Roche Bezigon is a full and generous Chenin Blanc from grapes picked at maximum maturity and pressed in and old cider press. Intense and immediate with masses of ripe tropical fruit, baked apple, nougat and honey aromas cut through with the hallmark Chenin Blanc acidity that makes it a perfect pairing for strongly flavoured creamy dishes.
