Domaine de la Loue Savagnin
Catherine Hannoun of Domaine de la Loue is a new Jura producer for us and one that really blew us away at tasting - savoury, complex, and just quintessentially Jura. Named after the river Loue which snakes its way through Port Lesney where Catherine is based, the domaine is very small at only 3 hectares, with all vines farmed organically and the wines made with no filtration, sulphur or other additions.
This is Catherine's opulent and powerful Savagnin made in the non-oxidative style from grapes grown in the highly regarded Sous Roche vineyard near Pupillin. Burgundy-esque with pastry, hazelnut and exotic spices featuring on the nose and palate with a core of apple and citrus fruit creating a long and precise finish.
