Peter Gierszewski of Domaine de Thalie has 4.5 hectares of vines around the village of Cluny in the Macon where he grows the usual Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Aligoté, and less usual Syrah and Gamay. Peter works organically in the vineyard and vinifies naturally in the cellar with no additions save for a little sulphur at bottling when necessary.

Balancin is Domaine de Thalie's flagship Pinot Noir made from 70% whole bunches and aged for a year in old oak and another year in bottle before release. Vivid aromas of wild berries, forest floor and exotic spice on the nose with typical Burgundian silkiness and plenty of power on the well-balanced palate.
