Domaine Mas Lau 'L'
Country: France
Region: Languedoc
Grapes: Carignan
Vintage: 2019
Laurent Bagnol makes wild and rustic wines in his cellar deep in the Languedoc scrubland between Montpellier and Nimes. He works with old vines – some up to 100 years – bearing mostly indigenous grapes such as Oeillade, Carignan and Cinsault which are adapted to the intense climate of the area. Laurent has a laissez-faire approach to winemaking, letting the grapes speak for themselves and allowing some brettanomyces and volatile acidity in the finished wines.
'L' is a lively and energetic Carignan brimming with aromas of the garrigue and plump Summer fruit, backed up by brisk acidity and a gamey, savoury finish.
