Guttarolo Amphora Bianco
Cristiano Guttarolo's natural wines come form vines grown high up on a limestone plateau 400m slightly inland from the Puglian coast. While the wines are unmistakably Puglian, full of wild sun-drenched fruit, they have a balance which is not often found from wines made in this hot southern region of Italy.
The Amphora Bianco is made from local variety Verdeca that spent five days on skins before being pressed off to terracotta amphorae for two months. A heady wine with lifted aromas of bergamot and spice and fine grained tannins. Just 800 bottles were made.
