Grapes: Parpato, Catarratto
Halara is a collaboration between Nino Barraco and Corrado Dotori of La Distesa, who are working together to bring back abandoned indigenous vineyards in Marsala, Sicily. To start with they are working with 2 hectares of Parpato and Catarratto vines that are around 35 years old, making a rosato and rosso with minimal intervention to unique terroir of this sun, sea and windswept region come through.
The rosato is an 80/20 blend of Parpato and Catarratto made from a combination of direct press whole bunches and destemmed grapes macerated for twenty four hours on skins. Bottled young, this is a rosato in the truest sense, with vibrant red fruits, lifted floral hints and a pronounced herbaceous note that offers real refreshment.
