Jean-Pierre Robinot Charme
Country: France
Region: Loire
Grapes: Chenin Blanc
Vintage: 2021
The phrase 'natural wine legend' is sometimes overused, but the moniker certainly applies to Jean-Pierre Robinot. Having founded the famous Paris wine bar L’Ange Vin and France’s premier Natural Wine journal Le Rouge et le Blanc, he now makes incredible wine in the Loire across two appellations, Jasnières and the Coteaux-du-Loir. Farming is biodynamic, vinification is slow and patient but always worth the wait.
Charme is Chenin Blanc from a vineyard around forty years old, picked a little later than Bistrologie and pressed straight to old barrels for fifteen months of élevage. With an inviting nose of orchard fruits and crushed stones, this pairs its plush fruit with a lingering line of acid that really resonates. A wine of rare energy, it has a long life ahead.
