The phrase 'natural wine legend' is sometimes overused, but the moniker certainly applies to Jean-Pierre Robinot. Having founded the famous Paris wine bar L’Ange Vin and France’s premier Natural Wine journal Le Rouge et le Blanc, he now makes incredible wine in the Loire across two appellations, Jasnières and the Coteaux-du-Loir. Farming is biodynamic, vinification is slow and patient but always worth the wait.
Concerto di Venezia is around 70% Cabernet Franc from a parcel in Touraine, with Pineau d'Aunis from their old vines making up the balance. The two were fermented separately as whole bunches before being pressed and assembled for fifteen months of élevage in barrel. Light, bright and perfumed with brambly fruits and white pepper, the fruit is framed by faint tannins and a lick of refreshing acidity.
