Jean-Pierre Robinot Fêtembulles
Country: France
Region: Loire
Grapes: Chenin Blanc
Vintage: 2021
The phrase 'natural wine legend' is sometimes overused, but the moniker certainly applies to Jean-Pierre Robinot. Having founded the famous Paris wine bar L’Ange Vin and France’s premier Natural Wine journal Le Rouge et le Blanc, he now makes incredible wine in the Loire across two appellations, Jasnières and the Coteaux-du-Loir. Farming is biodynamic, vinification is slow and patient but always worth the wait.
This wonderful pét-nat comes from a parcel of young vines of Chenin Blanc. The grapes were pressed directly and the wine began fermentation in cuve before being transferred to bottle, and after a year on its lees was disgorged by hand. The warmer vintage has produced a rounder, fuller version of the wine that pairs ripe stone fruits and savoury complexity to brilliant effect. An iconic apéritif.
