La Perdida O Trancado
Nacho Gonzales of La Perdida is a biologist by trade, starting down the road of natural winemaking when his grandmother bequeathed him a single gnarly old vineyard, O Trancado. He now works six previously abandoned old plots which he has nurtured back to health, vinifying the grapes with minimal intervention in his tiny cellar in the town of Larouco.
This is Garnacha and a little Mencia from the vines inherited from Nacho's grandmother and planted around 70 years ago. Vinified without sulphur, it's wild and aromatic with violets, rose petal and raspberry on the nose. Savoury on the palate with leather, game and black pepper coming through.
