Le Soula Rouge
Country: France
Region: Côtes Catalanes
Grapes: Carignan, Syrah, Grenache
Vintage: 2014
Le Soula is project created in 2001 by Gerard Gauby, Mark Walford and Roy Richards. Gerard was convinced that the old vines at Fenouilledes located on the heights at the foot of the Pyrenees benefited from a cooler climate and had the potential to produce wines of really high quality. At 650 metres above sea level these vines are some of the highest in France.
The Soula Rouge is a blend of Carignan, Syrah and Grenache Noir aged for 2 years on old barrels and several more in bottle before release. Ethereal and beguiling with breezy red fruit, lavender, black pepper and a pleasant hint of wet leaves.
