Little Pomona Somerset Red Streak
Apples: Somerset Red Streak
Susanna and James Forbes of Little Pomona make natural cider from their 120 tree orchard in Thornbury, North Herefordshire. In their own words, their aim is to make cider that "speak of the land, that taste of the harvest, that illustrate the wonderful cider making heritage the region is built on, and that look to the future".
Somerset Red Streak is an apple characterised by its aromas of juicy, bright citrus fruit and slightly green tannins. This 2019 edition from Little Pomona is made from fruit grown in Ross-on-Wye aged for 8 months in ex-Chardonnay barrels. Ripe and bright with all those hallmark Red Streak notes accompanied by vinous notes from the barrels.
