An English pét-nat made by Tim Wildman MW of Astro Bunny and Piggy Pop fame! For his new project Tim is on a mission to rescue the fast disappearing heritage grape varieties planted in the UK in the last century and to craft them into delicious, low intervention pét-nat using traditional winemaking methods.
Frolic 2023 is a blend of 6 heritage grape varieties from five vineyards in four English counties from Herefordshire in the West, through Wiltshire and Hampshire to Kent in the East, most of which were planted in the 1980s and 1990s with the oldest being established in 1973. Made from a blend of Madeleine Angevine and Huxelrebe for aromatics and intensity, Schönburger for beautiful perfume, Reichensteiner and Müller-Thurgau for acidity and red fleshed Triomphe d'Alsace for colour. Delicate aromas of rose petal, elderflower and hedgerow flowers, followed by a palate of quince, strawberry, cut lime and with a grapefruit skin pithiness. There’s a saline / quinine character which combines with the featherlight body and gentle mousse to provide perfect summer refreshment!
