Domaine Camille Thiriet Bourgogne Rouge 'Les Chagniots'
Country: France
Region: Burgundy
Grapes: Pinot Noir
Vintage: 2022
Brought up in Paris, Camille Thiriet moved to Burgundy in 2008 and has fast developed a reputation as one of Burgundy's most exciting new winemakers, vinifying small parcels of grapes in her tiny cellar in the village of Colmblanchien where she has benefited from the mentorship of Bernard Noblet, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s retired chef de cave. In 2022, along with her partner Matt Chittick, Camille purchased a small domaine of 4.5 hectares of vines in the village of Corgoloin, just up the hill from Comblanchien in the Côtes de Nuits
The first wine made from the newly purchased domaine, Les Chagniots is Pinot Noir from a small parcel of 75 year-old vines in Corgoloin,. The name Chagniots is often cited as a reference to small oak trees, though Chaignots denotes iron-rich minerals in the local patois, so here it could refer to the reddish soils high in iron oxide. A supple, perfumed and sweet fruited wine with stunning aromatics and finesse.
