Maison Valette is based in Chaintré in the south of Burgundy between Mâcon and Beaujolais. In total there is 8 hectares under vine all worked organically since the early 1990s. Harvesting is done by hand and the wines undergo long barrel ageing in old oak before bottling without fining filtration or sulphur.

The  Viré-Clessé Et Pourtant is Chardonnay from 70+ year old vines growing in white and clay limestone soils, aged for 12 months in barrel before a further 2 years ageing in tank. Incredibly aromatic and complex, it balances rich, oxidative notes with intense energy.  Aromas of caramelised red apple, mirabelle plum, candied orange peel, warm honey, beeswax, and a touch of toasted hazelnut and cinnamon.
