Marthe Henry Boillot Aligoté
Country: France
Region: Burgundy
Grapes: Aligoté
Vintage: 2020
Though originally from Burgundy, Marthe Henry Boillot spent most of her life working as a journalist in Paris before returning home in 2013. After studying winemaking at Le Viti in Beaune and gaining practical experience at Domaine Rougeot in Meursault, Marthe set up on her own in 2017, taking over the small cellar in Meursault of her esteemed winemaking grandfather Pierre Boillot.
This is Marthe's stunning Aligoté made from grapes grown organically in red clay and limestone soils in Santenay. Spontaneously fermented with native yeasts before undergoing an 18 month élevage in old 228 litre barrels, it's fresh and energetic, with an airy and ripe fruit composition. Plenty of power and structure on the palate lifted by a flinty minerality.
