Matt Gregory is an English winemaker working with Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Bacchus that he grows in the Leicestershire Wolds. The emphasis is on careful grape handling and extended infusion macerations with the aim of creating wines that allow that sense of place to show through in a very hands off way.
Hedge Line is a blend of Seyval, Bacchus, Madeleine Angevine and Solaris, made in honour of, and to support, the planting of a biodiverse and wildlife friendly hedge on the Eastern boundary of Matt's vineyard. Grapes were de-stemmed and macerated separately on their skins for up to 10 weeks before being pressed to tank for 15 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with a small amount of sulphur. A textural and complex white, dense with English hedgerow aromatics, a brilliant pithy citrus, and the saline, mineral line that bears the signature of the glacial limestone Matt's varieties are planted over.
