Domaine Overnoy Savagnin Typé
Country: France
Region: Jura
Grapes: Savagnin
Vintage: 2020
The first vines of Domaine Overnoy were planted in 1982 and the estate - organic since 2014 - is now run by Guillaume Overnoy, nephew of the legendary Pierre Overnoy. The vineyards are planted with the five main Jura grapes which are vinified in a stunning ancient underground cellar. Guillaume's inspiration naturally comes from his uncle who he consults with on a regular basis.
When is a Vin Jaune not a Vin Jaune? This makes a good case for solving this riddle- Savagnin aged for four years under flor in barrel, this has all the nutty sherry complexity of a Vin Jaune but toned down enough to enjoy a full bottle, with greater freshness and minerality.
