Pierre Bourlier Les Chambes
Grapes: Gamay, Pinot Noir
Pierre Bourlier has a small domaine of 1.5 hectares deep in the northern hills of the Ardeche, just a stone's throw from St Joseph. Most of the vines grow up the steep sides of the Doux valley in sandy granitic soil supported by stone-wall terraces.
Les Chambes is a 50/50 field blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir from a single plot of vines at the top of Pierre's domaine. It's lively and fruit-forward with ripe raspberry and redcurrant fruit accented with a touch of bitter greens and classic, graphite-like Ardeche minerality.
