Jean-Pierre Robinot Concerto di Venezia
Country: France
Region: Loire
Grapes: Pineau d'Aunis
Vintage: 2019
The phrase 'natural wine legend' is sometimes overused, but the moniker certainly applies to Jean-Pierre Robinot. Having founded the famous Paris wine bar L’Ange Vin and France’s premier Natural Wine journal Le Rouge et le Blanc, he now makes incredible wine in the Loire across two appellations, Jasnières and the Coteaux-du-Loir. Farming is biodynamic, vinification is slow and patient but always worth the wait.
Concerto di Venezia is Pineau d’Aunis grown for the Robinots by Philippe Tessier in the Touraine. The grapes were fermented as whole bunches before being pressed off to barrel for fifteen months. The palate offers lively wild strawberry fruit, white pepper and a wet slate mineral core. Light tannins and plenty of refreshing acidity. Fresher and cleaner than the Lumiere de Sens.
