Sebastien Morin Paradoxe (Magnum)
Country: France
Region: Beaujolais
Grapes: Gamay
Vintage: 2019
Sebastien Morin is an exciting young winemaker based in the southern Beaujolais town of Saint-Étienne-des-Oullières. In total he has 1.5 hectares of Gamay vines which he looks after without herbicides or pesticides.
Paradoxe is from a 70 year old plot of Gamay planted on sandy granitic soil. Whole bunches of grapes were left to macerate for 2 months before being pressed into cuve until the end of June. The arguably more serious of the two 2019 releases, with a keen acidity with tart red berries and a lasting herbaceous finish. Incredibly satisfying now but we feel it will reward those patient enough to cellar for a few years.
