Sebastien Riffault Sancerre Auksinis
Grapes: Sauvignon Blanc
The Riffault family have been making wine in Sancerre for generations. After working with his father, Sebastien began working under his own label in 2002, making late-harvested, botrytis affected wines that stand in stark contrast to the typically lean and grassy Sauvignon Blanc Sancerre is known for. All his wines are vinified dry and bottled without any additives.
Auksinis means "late" in Lithuanian (Sebastien’s wife is Lithuanian). The name references Seb allowing the fruit for this cuvee to hang on the vine until the ‘noble rot’ botrytis occurs. A lovely golden colour, and flavours of peaches and cream, ripe/ baked apples, apricots, pears, maybe even a touch of piña colada! Ripe, rich and decadent.
