Sebastien Riffault Sancerre Sauletas
Region: Sancerre, Loire
Grapes: Sauvignon Blanc
The Riffault family have been making wine in Sancerre for generations. After working with his father, Sebastien began working under his own label in 2002, making late-harvested, botrytis affected wines that stand in stark contrast to the typically lean and grassy Sauvignon Blanc Sancerre is known for. All his wines are vinified dry and bottled without any additives.
Sauletas grows on limestone which distinguishes this label from the Skeveldra and the Auksinis, just growing on 3 different soil types. This is a deep, dark yellow, dry Sauvignon Blanc. The aromas on the palate reveal some baked or bruised apples with a little balancing tannin and a salty mineral edge.
