Tillingham Saw Pit (50cl)
Region: East Sussex
Grapes: Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir
Tillingham is the brainchild of winemaker Ben Walgate who crafts natural wines from his 70 acre farm near Rye in East Sussex.
Saw Pit is 85% Pinot Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir from fruit sourced exclusively from the eponymous Saw Pit vineyard on the Tillingham domain. The boidynamically farmed grapes were hand sorted, de-stemmed and lightly crushed before co-fermenting on the skins for 10 days and then pressing off to age in a single 5 year old barrel for six months. Crimson red in colour with pomegranate, chocolate and coffee aromas. Although light in body, this has a generous, silky palate which reflects the combination of the clay-dominant soil of this vineyard and the warm, dry vintage.
