Trossen Schiefergold Purus
Rudolf and Rita Trossen have been practising Biodynamic viticulture in the Mosel region since the early 70s. They are true pioneers, and their efforts have produced incredibly healthy vines many of which are well over 100 years old in tough conditions. Frankly this is as good as Mosel Riesling can be in our opinion, and their various bottling each show how soil and aspect can create entirely different wines from the same variety.
Schiefergold Purus is made with the fruit of two small, difficult-to-access vineyards, meaning all the work and harvest is backbreaking, and must be undertaken entirely by hand. Fermentation takes place in steel following by 10 months in old oak barrels on lees. Full bodied with rich tropical notes of guava and lychee, balanced by a powerful preserved lemon acidity to rival the most intense Chablis. Made entirely without sulphur.
