Thursday 20th is the third in November which for oenophiles the world over means only one thing - the sourcing, saluting and swigging of the original glou glou wine, Beaujolais Nouveau.
Picked, crushed, fermented and bottled all in the space of a few weeks, Beaujolais Nouveau is a celebration of the harvest dating back to the 1800s where weary vignerons and their cavalry of pickers would toast the new vintage with the earliest fruits of their labour.
We have more Beaujolais Nouveau due to arrive with us than ever before in the next few days from esteemed natural Beaujolais winemakers Château Cambon, Domaine Lapalu and Domaine Séléné, all of which are available to pre-order now for delivery on Thursday November 20th, Beaujolais Nouveau Day.
Château Cambon Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 (£21.50)
Château Cambon is part-owned by none other than the legendary 'Gang of Four' natural winemaking pioneer Marcel Lapierre along with his wife and another highly regarded winemaker, Jean-Claude Chanudet.
We are delighted to receive Château Cambon's Beaujolais Nouveau again in 2025. Always an effortlessly pure and vivacious rendition brimming with juicy red fruits.
Domaine Lapalu Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 (£21.50)
Jean-Claude Lapalu works biodynamically with 60-80 year old Gamay vines in Saint-Etienne-la-Varenne near Brouilly. Vinifying without sulphur (some cuvées receive a small dose at bottling), he produces elegant, ethereal Beaujolais which has put him firmly on the map as a worthy successor to the famed natural producers this region is known for.
We are delighted to receive Jean-Claude's Beaujolais Villages Nouveau again in 2025, and in both bottle and magnum.
Domaine Séléné Primeur Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 (£24.50)
Sylvere Trichard of Domaine Séléné is something of a rising star in Beaujolais, working naturally to craft wines that are refined and polished. Free-standing goblet vines are left with grass and wildflowers to grow beneath, the strips in between are maintained simply with a mower- no ploughs or machinery here.
Sylvere's 2025 Beaujolais Nouveau is made from Gamay grapes grown biodynamically on his 4 hectare farm. Usually the most concentrated and structured of the Nouveau we receive, with deep, brooding fruit and intricate spice. Also available in magnum.
